The Certified Distance Education Instructor (CDEI™) program is nearing its third anniversary and the designation is good for three years and it will expire in June 2010 for the individuals that first earned it. The new CDEI™ renewal course will be available in April and consists of new and valuable information for professional educators. The CDEI™ renewal course will consist of modules on: Instructional design and online learning, developing and measuring learning objectives, web 2.0 technologies, teaching all learners using accessible courses and ethical issues in distance education. The course will take approximately eight hours to complete and the cost will be $195.
IDECC Program Director, Joe McClary, said, “The goal for the CDEI™ renewal course is to help instructors of distance education courses maintain the essential skills necessary to stay effective and relevant in their work as educators. In addition, we have an upgraded delivery system that will allow us greater flexibility in using a variety of instructional strategies in the new course.”
All instructors associated with ARELLO or IDECC Certified courses should plan to maintain their CDEI™ designation to avoid having their course certification withdrawn. More information about the CDEI™ renewal course will be available at www.idecc.org in March. Learn
